When starting something new would you jump into it without gaining some knowledge as to what you are jumping into?

If you were learning to ride a bicycle for the first time you would want someone to tell you the basics first
without just jumping on and risking getting hurt wouldn’t you. Well I would hope so.

The same very very simple concept remains true for anything you are starting, whether it is opening a flower shop, starting a new craft, wanting to get into a certain organization, join the military, whatever
it is you are looking to become a part of you would stand a better chance of doing it successfully with
a little knowledge in your back pocket.

Why would this concept be any different in starting a new business venture on the internet?
Well, the answer is it wouldn’t and it shouldn’t but so many times I see so many people wanting
to join me in my businesses and JUMP right in but they have NO CLUE how to market, or they THINK
they have a clue but they don’t realize there is some KNOWLEDGE required first in order to do it
right instead of wasting precious time doing it wrong just to find out they could have done it right
the first time AND not realizing that self confidence plays a major role in the equation of success.

So here I am going to list of books that not only helped me in my career both in real estate as well
as on the internet with online marketing but also helped me tackle things better just in life in general.

I am placing the books in what I feel is in order of importance.

The Magnetic Sponsoring System – a pdf file or physical book whatever you choose will change the way you look at your prospects forever, I am telling you this to be 100% true, it’s authored by Mike Dillard and an absolute gold mine filled with excellent advice and content. It is also an affiliate based item so your one time purchase of the book can be made back easily.

Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”
Great book written by Napoleon Hill who interviewed a Billionaire who in turn gave him
the steps to success…very inspirational!

“7 Habits of Highly Effective People”
Another great book that gets your head on straight as far as the “Millionaire Mindset” and a must in your Knowledge Library

Tribes Seth Godin must read about how we all need to learn how to lead in this new world we live in.

Doctor Ron Mueller’s Home Business Tax Savings Hands Down in my opinion the greatest information in print about taxes for a home based business owner or self-employed individual.

First off I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Appreciate it!

Thanks Boyce I am glad you are enjoying the blog! My best advice for writing, is never ever create the title of the blog post first.

Write down a subject, and then three points, beginning, middle and end, then elaborate on all the points.
Come back, and read the entire post, THEN create the title. My favorite time to write is when I am completely alone with no distractions.

I have three children so I find my best times to concentrate are while they are all at school or late at night when everyone is in bed, even my husband. :)
      Good luck!

  9. Jack Beddall says:

    From Physics, Power = Work/Time

    Therefore, Time = Work/Power

    Substituting
    Knowledge = Power
    Time = Money

    you get Money = Work/Knowledge

which proves that the less you know, the more money you make, regardless of how much work you do.

  10. Laura, one of the biggest ways to become successful on the internet is by adding value. Well let me take that back, one of the biggest ways to become successful in life is by adding ‘Value’.
How do you gain value? By increasing your knowledge.
Reading is a an excellent way to increase your knowledge and you have listed an outstanding group of books to get started with.
Thank you for all your help.
