Hello my friends!

I had the pleasure of commenting on a business partner’s Facebook page today, the topic being what do you think is the main reason for failure of internet marketers today. Kudos to you Mary Volkmann for starting that discussion today and for inspiring me to write about this on my blog.

It’s a good question, and one I am not going to answer, just yet.

I read some of the answers that were posted before I posted mine and a comment was made about not having a great sponsor or upline or company support.

Then someone else commented about when does the accountability then fall on the person joining the business.

Well, I then wrote quite a long comment and have to agree whole heartedly with comment poster #2 that stated basically if the person joining a business blames their lack of production or failure on the company support solely what is that saying about the person themselves?

The biggest mistake network marketers (and I use this term quite loosely because most of them shouldn’t call themselves anything until they can tell me they read about 5-10 books on sales, marketing, self confidence and self motivation FIRST) make is they spend so much time looking at others to blame instead of looking in the mirror and pointing the finger at themselves.

Did it ever DAWN on you that maybe YOU made a mistake? Hell I have made PLENTY and the only person I ever have blamed is myself you know why? Because I take RESPONSIBILITY for each and every ACTION I take!

If you are so self absorbed in thinking that YOU didn’t make any errors in your failures YOU are kidding yourself! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, reflect on what it was you did or did not do that got you in a failing situation and modify YOUR actions. The only person responsible for your ultimate success is YOU!

The quicker people wake up out of their slumbering fog and get that into their heads the better off this industry and the people that truly want to succeed will be!

If you need assistance and guidance..SEEK IT! Then when you GET that advice USE IT!

If you need help with your self confidence, GET IT!

If you are afraid to step out of your comfort zone ADMIT IT but STOP bashing the dreams of others that are looking to pursue a better life for themselves by whining and complaining over every little thing that goes wrong in your life or your internet business. Be a leader, not a whiner.

Negativity breeds negativity. Positive thoughts have this remarkable way of helping you through the rough times.

It’s really that simple folks, either you are in, or you are out. If you don’t think you can do it, you need a self confidence kick in the pants. If you are frustrated because you have failed any business you ever attempted perhaps you are not ready yet. Perhaps you need to regroup and back up a few paces and start educating yourself.

I was a lot less harsh in my comment on Mary’s post but at least here I was able to elaborate a bit more and I hope for some that read this you take away from this positive energy and positive thoughts.

You control your own destiny. Today’s loss is a day closer to tomorrow’s triumph. Wow, I like that and I just made it up. So if you steal it just add – Laura Reeves after it. :)

Much success to you my friend, keep the chin up and feel free to place any comments to this post below.

I crave feedback on my rantings!

Very well stated Laura! I totally agree with you! Many people believe that all MLM businesses are scams because of the ones that lead you to believe in overnight success. In order to succeed in this industry, it takes hard work, dedication, patience, self discipline and total belief in yourself. You have to have the mindset to ignore ALL of the negativity that you WILL encounter and feed on your own positive thoughts! Just as you stated above – We control our own destiny! How we choose to react to each new challenge we are faced with is entirely up to us!

  3. Laura you never disappoint. It is always exciting to find that you have written another article.
Once again you are on point with who’s really at fault when you fail.
If you never accept the fact that you are at fault you wont change what you are doing. If you don’t change what you are doing, failure will continue to follow.

Take responsibility for your actions. Change what needs to be changed and success will follow.

  4. Laura,
Great post on So What’s Your Excuse. To me making excuses is an easy way out for not taking responsibility for your own actions. You can blame your sponsor for not responding to an email quick enough or that it is his/her fault that you have not sponsored a lot of new members. But remember it is your business and you are responsible for it. It is great to have a pro active sponsor but it doesn’t happen that way all the time.

For me personally I joined numerous online businesses over the past 5 years and did not have the best sponsors and company support was not the best with most of them but the services/products were second to none and pay plan was awesome. Since I had the drive to succeed I did not focus on the few things that were out of my control, I focused on what I could control and that was marketing the products/services and building relationships with potential customers and members.

  7. Hi Laura, It is always a great promise to visit your blog after you make a post. You never disappoint! You know, it’s crazy to think that anyone is going to get anywhere by complaining and/or whining all the time. I used to do that and I fell flat on my face! Then I read thousands of e-books and followed 100’s of gurus and found the solution to my success. READ & FOLLOW! I can’t tell you how important it is to follow those who have been there. Don’t learn by example….learn from knowledge
